‘Northbound’ comes to town tonight

first_imgLAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Postmark LaFollette Theater newest production, ‘Northbound’, opens tonight.  The play, written by local playwright Tony Branam, chronicles the trip of the Walden family as they move to Ohio.  TOP PHOTO:  (Front) Cade Sexton plays “Jim the Bus Driver” in the locally produced production.The play takes place in the mid 1950’s when times were changing due to mines closing and there were fewer opportunities for decent paying jobs. The family dynamic of sibling rivalry, woven in with a school boy crush and two strangers with accents and sunglasses keep the play moving along.Last night was the dress rehearsal for “Northbound.’ The play takes place in a bus station and on a bus as it chronicles the move of the Walden family from LaFollette to Ohio.The cast is made up of members of the community.There will be six performances of ‘Northbound,’ starting tonight at 7 pm. Other performances are Aug. 24 at 7pm and Sun., Aug. 25 with a 2 pm matinee performance.  The following weekend performances are Aug. 30 and 31 at 7 pm and Sun., Sept. 1 with a 2 pm matinee performance.  Doors open at 6:15 pm and 1:15 pm. Tickets are available at Community Trust Bank and United Cumberland Bank.
