8-Year-Old Killed By Rock On The Sterling Highway
According to Troopers, a Volkswagen GTI Hatchback, occupied by a driver and four passengers, was traveling northbound when a volleyball-sized rock fell off the back of a rock truck traveling southbound. FacebookTwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享This afternoon, around 1:23 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers received a report that a rock went thru a windshield and struck an 8-year-old passenger, near mile 58.7 of the Sterling Highway. The rock went through the windshield of the Hatchback and struck the middle backseat passenger, Noah Schwebach, 8 of Eagle River. Life saving measures were rendered but he succumbed to his injuries on scene. No one else in the Hatchback was injured. The incident occurred in a construction zone that has many large vehicles moving in and out of the area. The vehicle the rock fell off of has not been positively identified. According to Troopers the investigation is still ongoing.
