The debate was secured by Carson after he secured cross-party support for his motion in favour of establishing new National Parks across Scotland. Commenting, Finlay Carson MSP said: “I was delighted to have been able to secure this important debate today on the need to designate more National Parks in Scotland. I believe passionately that Galloway should have the recognition it deserves with its very own National Park. A National Park would boost employment, increase tourist numbers and ensure sustainable development in the area.“This afternoon we had the opportunity to discuss the important role that National Parks can play both to our economy and environment.  “More national parks would inspire pride and passion from local people and visitors alike, and would boost the image of Scotland worldwide by showing that the Scottish Government has positive policies and actions to protect and enhance the environment.”last_img
