No direct ‘Trump-effect’ on German economy: survey

first_imgThe German economy seems to be not affected by the election of Donald Trump as next U.S. president. The economic upturn in the country remains intact, the German Institute for Economic Research (Ifo) of the University of Munich said in its Business Climate Index published today.Ifo said in a statement that the 7,000 firms questioned in the survey were satisfied with their current business situation, but it added that they were less optimistic about the coming months.”The construction boom continues. The business climate once again reached a new record high. The same also holds for business expectations,” the statement said. At the same time, the outlook for the manufacturing and the wholesale sectors is slightly less favorable, mainly because of less dynamic export prospects. The government expects growth to slow to 1.4 percent in 2017, when the Germans vote in parliamentary elections, Reuters reports.
