Director of Foundation Relations
POSITION SUMMARY:This Director of Foundation Relations willexpand the University’s productivity in acquiring financialresources from the private foundations and will be responsible fordeveloping and conducting a strong and active program ofinteraction and gift/grant seeking involving local, regional andnational philanthropic foundations and related organizations. Theposition will manage a team of foundation relations officers. Thisteam represents all of UGA and shares priorities from across campusthat match the interests of private foundations. The FoundationRelations team works towards the overall goal of securing financialresources to support UGA.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:(30%) Conduct visits with foundation representatives as neededfor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes.(30%) Identify, research and cultivate new foundationprospects; initiate contact, write proposals and/or stewardfoundation representatives as appropriate. Assist and advisefaculty, administrators and unit development directors regardingthe development of projects and programs in need of privatesupport; approve proposals and manage application process.(20%) Manage Foundation Relations team, fostering anenvironment of collaboration and leadership to increase theproductivity of the department. Maintain a positive environment.Recommend and initiate personnel actions required for the unit.Lead staff in areas of interpersonal communication, professionaldevelopment, and problem solving.(10%) Review and approve letters of inquiry, proposals andstewardship reports. Manage clearance process and development ofsolicitation strategies for foundation prospects. Document allcontacts in the development database.(10%) Assist Development leadership as needed.
